Creating Phases and Selecting Phase Models
Here you create two phases and define the physics models for each. The continuous phase is water and the dispersed phase is hexane. The water and hexane phases are both modeled as liquid with constant density. The Adaptive Multiple Size-Group (AMUSIG) model is used to predict the size distribution of hexane droplets in the flow.
To create the phases and select the phase models:
- In the Physics 1 continuum, right-click the node and select New.
- Rename the Phase 1 node to Water.
-
For the
Water phase, right-click the
Models node and select the following models in order:
Group Box Model Enabled Models Turbulent (selected automatically)
Flow (selected automatically)
Material Liquid
Equation of State Constant Density
- Click Close.
- Create a second phase and rename it to Hexane.
-
For the
Hexane phase, select the following models in order:
Group Box Model Enabled Models Turbulent (selected automatically)
Flow (selected automatically)
Material Liquid
Equation of State Constant Density
Optional Models Particle Size Distribution
Particle Size Distribution Adaptive Multiple Size-Group
-
Click
Close.
The tree below the Phases node now appears as shown below.
- Right-click Replace with.... and click
-
In the
Replace Material dialog, select
C6H14 (Hexane) and then click
OK.
The default material properties of both fluids are suitable for this simulation.
To specify the Adaptive Multiple Size-Group properties for the dispersed hexane phase:
-
Edit the
node and set the following properties:
Node Property Setting Adaptive Multiple Size-Group Number of Size-Groups 5 Velocity Option Multi-Speed - Save the simulation.
