Visualizing the Solution

To visualize the breakup rate and the coalescence rate of the hexane droplets, and the Sauter mean diameter of the droplets, you create scalar scenes. The pipe width (Y axis) is scaled by a factor of 2 in order to provide a better view of the results.

Create a transform to scale the Y axis by a factor of 2:
  1. Right-click the Tools > Transforms node, and select New Graphics Transform > Simple Transform.
  2. Rename the new transform to Y Axis Scale.
  3. Select the Y Axis Scale node and set the Scale to [1.0, 2.0, 1.0].
To visualize the breakup rate:
  1. Right-click the Scenes node, and select New > Scalar.
  2. Rename the new scene to Breakup Rate.
  3. Select the Breakup Rate node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Outline 1 Transform Y Axis Scale
Scalar 1 Contour Style Smooth Filled
    Transform Y Axis Scale
Scalar Field Function Breakup Rate > Breakup Rate of Phase Interaction 1
To visualize the coalescence rate:
  1. Create another scalar scene and rename it to Coalescence Rate.
  2. Select the Coalescence Rate node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Outline 1 Transform Y Axis Scale
Scalar 1 Contour Style Smooth Filled
    Transform Y Axis Scale
Scalar Field Function Coalescence Rate > Coalescence Rate of Phase Interaction 1
To visualize the Sauter mean diameter of hexane:
  1. Create another scalar scene and rename it to Sauter Mean Diameter.
  2. Select the Sauter Mean Diameter node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Outline 1 Transform Y Axis Scale
Scalar 1 Contour Style Smooth Filled
    Transform Y Axis Scale
Scalar Field Function Sauter Mean Diameter > Sauter Mean Diameter of Hexane
  3. Save the simulation.
