Setting the Boundary Types

Before you generate the volume mesh, set the correct boundary types.

By setting boundary types in advance, the volume mesh does not create prism layers on outlet boundaries. To increase the freedom of the pressure correction, you define the left, right and top boundaries of the background region as pressure outlets. The two sides of the background region are defined as symmetry planes.

To set the boundary conditions:

  1. Select the Regions > Overset > Boundaries > overset node and set Type to Overset Mesh.
  2. Within the Regions > Background > Boundaries node, multi-select left, right, top and set Type to Pressure Outlet.
  3. Within the Regions > Background > Boundaries node, multi-select side1, side2 and set Type to Symmetry Plane.
