Parts-Based Generalized Cylinder Custom Controls

Using a surface control, you can apply a custom number of layers or a stretching method to meshes that are generated by the parts-based generalized cylinder mesher.

Surface Control

Controls > Generalized Cylinder
Set Generalized Cylinder Mesher to Parent, Custom, or Disable. When you choose Custom, you can activate additional values using the Customize option as follows:
Customize Options Corresponding nodes under Values > Generalized Cylinder
Customize Number of Layers
Number of Layers

Determines how many cell layers are generated along the length of the cylinder. Increasing the number of layers can improve the mesh that is generated on cylindrical elements that have a higher degree of curvature. To set a specific Number of Layers, first set Specification Type to User Specified. Otherwise, Auto Compute allows the mesher to decide.

Customize Stretching
Stretching Function
Set Stretching Method to either Constant or Symmetric Hyperbolic. For Symmetric Hyperbolic, set the Stretching Factor in the Symmetric child node. With this option the mesh has shorter cells and the start and end of the cylinder, and longer cells in the middle. Increasing Stretching Factor above 1.0 causes increased clustering of cells towards the ends of the cylinder.
