The Meshing Workflow
This section contains the recommended workflow for setting up and generating the volume mesh at the parts level.
For Parts-Based Meshing the meshing detaches from the physics and provides a flexible and repeatable meshing pipeline.
The procedure for generating a mesh can differ depending on what you want to simulate, however the general steps to follow to generate a mesh are typically the same.
- Prepare the geometry for meshing using part operations.
-
If necessary, wrap your geometry.
To preserve geometric fidelity, perform partial wrapping and omit parts that do not require wrapping. See Surface Wrapper Defeature.
-
Imprint all parts together to automatically create part contacts.
See Imprint Parts.
-
If part contacts occur between two part surfaces in the geometry and have not been defined automatically, create them now:
-
Extract the simulation domain.
Typically you extract the internal or external volume. See Extract Volume.
- Remesh the surface and generate the volume mesh. See Generating the Surface and Volume Mesh.
