Arranging Multiple Graphics Windows

You can display multiple scenes and/or plots in the Simcenter STAR-CCM+ workspace at one time, including displays from multiple simulations, and arrange them as you like.

You can view and arrange two or more displays simultaneously using either of the following techniques:

  • Work with layout view objects which let you save the arrangements and copy them to other simulations. For details, see Assembling Layout Views.
  • Work directly with the display tabs.

To view multiple scenes and/or plots using the display tabs:

  1. Using the left mouse button, drag the tab of one of the displays in the direction where you want it to appear. In the illustrations below, the Geometry Scene 1 display tab is dragged to the right so that the display occupies the right half of the Graphics window.
A red outline appears around the scene display as you begin to move it.

  2. As you continue to move the mouse in that direction, the outline changes to show how the Graphics window will be split between the scenes.

  3. Let go of the mouse button. The scenes share space in the Graphics window.

You can use the same technique to divide the Graphics window further among more scenes.

To reverse a split, drag one tab over another.

You can reposition displays inside the Graphics window with a drag-and-drop mouse movement. To rearrange displays:

  1. Click the tab of the display that you wish to move. As you begin to drag the tab, the display has a red outline.
  2. Drag toward the desired position until you see the red outline jump to that position.
  3. Release the mouse button. The display and its tab are in the new location.
