Generating the Core Mesh
Once the prismatic cell layers have been generated, the advancing layer mesher proceeds to fill the remaining region volume with polyhedral or tetrahedral cells.
The advancing layer mesher uses the last prismatic cell layer as a basis for the polyhedral or tetrahedral core mesh. This approach ensures a one-to-one correlation between adjacent cell faces in the core mesh and cell layers. When a tetrahedral core mesh is used, the Advancing Layer Mesher guarantees that the mesh only contains standard cells such as tet, hex, wedge, or pyramid cells. These standard cells are suitable to use for Finite Element (FE) Analysis simulations which use the FE Solid Stress model.
