Grouping Features
3D-CAD allows you to organise features in the simulation tree by grouping them together. This feature allows you to condense the length of the feature design tree so that components are easily accessible.
-
Select the desired features that you want to group in the 3D-CAD simulation tree. To
select multiple features, press and hold the <CTRL> key
during the selection.
You can only group consecutive features together.
-
Right-click on the selected features and select Group.
The features are then added in a feature group node. - To rename the feature group, right-click the node and select Rename. Provide a name that summarizes the collective goal of the features in the group.
- To remove the features from the group, right-click the feature group node and select Ungroup.
You can also nest feature groups by putting them in a subgroup node
within a feature group node.
-
To nest a feature group node with another feature group node:
- Select the features under the feature group node.
- Right-click on the selection and select Group.
-
To unnest the feature group node, drag and drop the feature group node on the top level
feature manager node.
- To Suppress and Unsuppress direct and indirect child features of a feature group, use the context menu as described in Suppressing Features.
-
To use the Roll Back, Roll Forward and
Roll to End options for all direct and indirect child features of
a feature group, see Rolling Back.
If you suppress or roll back all the features in a feature group, a badge is added to the feature group to indicate the status of the child nodes.
