  - Hyperelastic Stress Analysis with Adaptive Time-Step: Trileaflet Heart Valve
    Trileaflet valves are prosthetic heart valves that open and close because of the deformation of the flexible leaflets [reflink]. Obtaining a successful simulation of the valve opening event is challenging due to the snap through instability on which the valve operation depends. Visualizing the Element Type

Use the Element Type field function in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to display the element type in a scalar scene.

Create a scalar scene and rename it to Element Type.

Edit the Element Type node and set the following properties:

The scene appears as shown below:

All the solid elements in the mesh are of the same type. The number 13 corresponds to wedge elements with 6 nodes.

When you run the simulation, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ adds mid-side nodes to the mesh. As a consequence, the value that is displayed in the scene changes to 26, that corresponds to wedge elements with 15 nodes.
