Duplicating Body Groups

When you duplicate a body group, you can choose whether to include the hierarchy (structure) within the duplicate and also whether to place the duplicate at the same level or at the root level.

To duplicate a body group:
  1. Within the Body Groups manager node, right-click on a body group node and select Duplicate.

You can select multiple body groups by holding down the <CTRL> key.

The Duplicate Body Groups panel appears. The selected body groups are shown in the Body Groups to Duplicate box.

By default, the Duplicate Hierarchy option is selected, which creates a duplicate of the chosen body group node and everything contained within it (including other body groups and their children). Other options are provided as described in Duplicate Body Group panel.

  2. Click OK.
The following image shows a tree before and after executing the Duplicate feature with the default option, Duplicate Hierarchy.

An exact copy of the body group containing all bodies and body groups is added as a sibling of the original body group node. A DuplicateBodyGroup1 node is added to the feature tree.

The following table summarizes the properties that are available for the duplicate operation.
Duplicate Hierarchy When active, an exact copy of the body group and all its bodies and other body groups (including their children) is duplicated at the same level as the original.
Duplicate Bodies in Place When active, all bodies within the chosen body group and in any child body groups are duplicated in place, that is, within their current body groups.
Place Duplicates in New Body Group When active, the body group and its hierarchy is duplicated as for Duplicate Hierarchy, except that the duplicate body group is contained within a new group node whose parent is the Body Groups manager node.
