Creating Scenes and Reports
For visualization, you create a scene that displays the stresses on the propellers and the air-water free surface. To monitor the 6-DOF motion, you create reports for the translation motion along the Z axis and the rotation motion around the Y axis.
- Right-click the Scenes node and select .
- Rename the scene Boat with Propellers.
In the scene, you add three
displayers—a scalar displayer that shows the stresses on the propellers, and two
surface displayers for the boat and the air-water free surface.
- Right-click the Boat with Propellers node and select .
- Rename the scalar displayer to Propeller.
- Right-click the Boat with Propellers node and select .
- Rename the surface displayer Free Surface.
- Create another surface displayer named Boat.
-
Edit the Boat with Propellers node, and set the
following properties:

To monitor the 6-DOF motion:
- Right-click the Reports node and select .
- Rename the report 6-DOF Body Y_Rotation and set Angle Report Option to Rotation Y Axis.
- Right-click the 6-DOF Body Y_Rotation report node and select Create Monitor and Plot from Report.
- Right-click the Reports node and select .
- Rename the report 6-DOF Body Z_Translation and set Direction to [0.0, 0.0, 1.0].
- Right-click the 6-DOF Body Z_Translation report node and select Create Monitor and Plot from Report.
- Save the simulation.
