Reporting, Monitoring, and Plotting

Create maximum and minimum temperature reports, monitors, and plots to visualize the temperature rise of the cells.

  1. Create the maximum temperature report.
    1. Right-click the Reports node and select New > User > Maximum.
A new report, Maximum 1, is created.
    2. Rename the Maximum 1 node to Maximum Temperature.
    3. Select the Reports > Maximum Temperature node and set the following properties:
      Property Setting
      Field Function Temperature
      Units C
      Parts Click (Custom Editor)

In the Maximum Temperature - Parts dialog, expand the Regions node and select the three Jellyroll regions.

    4. Click OK.
  2. Create the minimum temperature report.
    1. Right-click the Reports node and select New > User > Minimum.
    2. Rename the Reports > Minimum 1 node to Minimum Temperature.
    3. Select the Reports > Minimum Temperature node and set the following properties:
      Property Setting
      Field Function Temperature
      Units C
      Parts Click (Custom Editor)

In the Minimum Temperature - Parts dialog, expand the Regions node and select the three Jellyroll regions.

    4. Click OK.
  3. Create a monitor and plot with the temperature reports:
    1. Multi-select the following nodes then right-click one of the selected nodes and select Create Monitor and Plot from Report.
      • Reports > Maximum Temperature
      • Reports > Minimum Temperature
    2. In the Create Plot From Reports... dialog, click Single Plot.

The Maximum Temperature Monitor, Minimum Temperature Monitor, and Reports Plot nodes appear in the simulation tree.

    3. Rename Plots > Reports Plot to Temperature Monitor Plot.
    4. Select the Plots > Temperature Monitor Plot > Axes > Left Axis > Title node and set Title to Temperature (C).
  4. Create a state of charge report, monitor, and plot to visualize the discharging of the cells.
    1. Right-click the Reports node and select New > Metrics > Volume Average.
A new report, Volume Average 1, is created.
    2. Rename the Volume Average 1 node to State of Charge.
    3. Select the Reports > State of Charge node and set the following properties:
      Property Setting
Field Function Battery > Battery SOC
      Parts Click (Custom Editor)

In the State of Charge - Parts dialog, expand the Regions node and select the three Jellyroll regions.

    4. Click OK.
    5. Right-click the Reports > State of Charge node and select Create Monitor and Plot from Report.
  5. Save the simulation.
