Viewing the Status of Sketch Primitives

The status of sketch primitives indicate the validity of the sketch. This feature is useful for finding issues with your sketch, such as small gaps in sketches or overlapping primitives, which otherwise can be hard to see and would return errors further down the pipeline.

To display the status of sketch primitives:
  • In the Sketch panel, click (Show Status of Sketch Primities).

The status of each primitive is displayed in the sketch scene. The status of the primitives is updated dynamically.

A list of colors/statuses and their corresponding meaning is displayed below:

Status Description and Example
Blue sketch entities Indicates that the sketch primitives are under-constrained.

Black edges and vertices Indicates that the sketch primitives are fully defined.

Green vertices Indicates the point at which the sketch profile is open.

Red vertices Indicates the point at which the vertices are non-manifold (shared by two or more sketch entities).

Red dashed edges Indicates that there are two or more overlapping sketch primitives. Only one of the sketch primitives is shown in a dashed red line.

Red edges Indicates intersecting primitives.

Yellow sketch entities Indicates that the sketch primitive is over-constrained.
