Preparing Analysis Objects

Prepare plots and scenes to monitor the pipe displacement during the solution progress.

Use the point probe provided in the starting simulation file to monitor the displacement in the pipe center:
  1. Right-click the Reports node and select New > User > Maximum.
  2. Rename the Maximum 1 node to Y-Displacement.
  3. Edit the Reports > Y-Displacement node, and set the following properties:
    Property Setting
    Field Function Displacement > Laboratory > j
    Units mm
    Parts Derived Parts > Point
    Smooth Values Activated
  4. Right-click the Y-Displacement report and select Create Monitor and Plot from Report.
To visualize the deformation of the pipe in a scalar scene, scale the displacements using a vector warp:
  1. Create a scalar scene and rename it to Y-Displacement.
  2. Right-click the Derived Parts node and select New Part > Warp > Vector Warp...
  3. In the Create Warp Surface in-place dialog, set the following properties:
    Property Setting
    Input Parts Parts > Pipe
    Vector Displacement
    Auto Scale Activated
Display Existing Displayer > Scalar 1
  4. Click Create then Close.
  5. Expand the Scenes > Y-Displacement > Scalar 1 node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Scalar Field Function Displacement > Laboratory > j
    Units mm
Color Bar Color Map blue-red balanced
  6. Click (Save-Restore-Select views) and select Views > -X > Up +Y.
To visualize the pressure distribution throughout the fluid:
  1. Create a scalar scene and rename it to Pressure.
  2. Edit the Scenes > Pressure node and set the following properties:
    Node Property Setting
Scalar 1 Contour Style Smooth Filled
    Parts Parts Parts > Fluid
    Scalar Field Function Pressure
  3. Click (Save-Restore-Select views) and select Views > -X > Up +Y.
  4. Save the simulation.
