Speeding Up the Setup of Parallel Coordinate Plots
Depending on the number of axes and data series that you want to display in a Parallel Coordinates plot, the setup can be time consuming and require multiple mouse clicks. For this reason, Design Manager provides various options to accelerate the setup.
- Right-click the Plots node and select .
-
Right-click the
Quick Setup.
node and select
The following Parallel Coordinates Quick Setup dialog opens:
-
In the dialog, set the following properties:
- Data Providers: Select the design study whose designs you want to display in the plot. By default, a parallel coordinates plot displays all designs in the design study.
- Axis Data: Select the data type that you want to extract from the designs and display on the axes of the plot. For more details of the data type refer to [axis] Data.
-
In the
Axis Order group-box, define the order of the axes in the plot—the first entry in the list is the leftmost axis in the plot:
- Select the axis in the list whose position you want to change.
- Use the Order buttons on the right side of the group-box to modify the axis position.
-
To hide axis labels and ticks in the plot, deactivate
Show axis labels and ticks.
Plots without axes labels and ticks allow a faster interaction with the plot in the Graphics window (for example when interactively changing the position of an axis).
-
Click
OK.
Design Manager automatically adds the required axes and data series to the plot.
When you use the
Quick Setup option on a non-empty plot, the entire plot is reconstructed as defined in the
Parallel Coordinates Quick Setup dialog. All plot settings, such as line style or font size, are reset to their default values.
To retain your previous plot settings, use the Quick Setup option on the data series of the plot:
-
Right click the
Quick Setup.
node and select
The Parallel Coordinates Quick Setup dialog opens. The Data Providers box is greyed out.
-
Modify the axis data, the axis order, or the visibility of the axis labels and ticks as required and click
OK.
Design Manager updates the project plot accordingly.
To quickly create a Parallel Coordinates plot that displays all responses in a design study:
-
Right-click the respective
node and select
.
For a CAD Robustness study, this action creates a Parallel Coordinates plot that displays all input parameters and the Design Status.
To quickly edit all referencing axis types of the axis in the plot:
- Multi-select the Edit referencing axis types.... nodes, right-click, and select
-
In the
Multiple Objects dialog, click
Expand/Contract Tree, then
Expand/Contract Values.
The dialog gives you quick access to all the axis types and displayed variables. You can modify the referenced axes separately.
- Edit the axes as required and click OK.
