Importing External Data into Plots

Within design manager you can import a .csv file and use this to plot multiple data series on the same plot as well as overlay different plotting methods.

  1. Right-click Tools > Tables and select New Table.
  2. Within the Open dialogue select the desired .csv file.
The newly imported table can now be assigned to the desired plot.
  1. To assign the imported table to a plot, perform on of the following actions:
    • Right-click Plots > [Plot] > Data Series and select Add Data. Select the correct table within the Add Data window and click OK.
    • Drag and drop the table node into the plotting window.
    • For New Parallel Coordinate Plots, follow the steps as described in Speeding Up the Setup of Parallel Coordinate Plots.
  2. Select Plots > [Plot] > Data Series > [External Data Series] and set the Plotting Mode to the desired plot. See Data Series Reference
Bar plots are primarily used for data which has already been manipulated (such as a externally composed histogram). Whereas Histogram plots are used if you wish Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to perform the data manipulation based on the data that is binned.
  3. Set the desired properties for the Plotting Mode selected. See Data Series Reference.
