Working with Repair Tools
The repair tools option simplifies the way you access features to repair a geometry in Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
The repair tools feature gives you the capability to work with a range of tools, which can be used to clean and prepare a CAD geometry to generate a good mesh before running a simulation. These are the following options available in repair tools:
- Merge Faces: Allows you to merge two or more faces into a single face.
- Merge Edges: Allows you to merge two or more edges into a single edge.
- Split Faces By Edge Points: You can split a face into multiple sections using edge points.
- Split Faces By Edge Projection: You can split a face by imprinting edges onto it.
- Split Face By UV Point: Allows you to split a face using ISO parametric curves of a surface.
- Remove Redundant Edges: Allows you to remove any free floating edges on your geometry.
- Zipping Edges: Allows you to remove gaps between edges from sheet bodies.
- Optimizing Edges: Allows you to repair edges and vertices with high tolerance.
- Fill Holes: Allows you to fill gaps in the geometry with a closed surface.
- Repair Faces: Attempts to fix invalid faces in a geometry.
- Repair Bodies: Attempts to repair invalid bodies automatically.
- Defeature Faces: Allows you to remove unwanted features on a face. See Removing Unwanted Features.
- Split Edges By Edge Points: You can split an edge using points.
- Offset Edges: Splits a specified face by offsetting selected edges. See Offset Edges.
- Sliver Faces: Allows you to remove small unwanted faces with high aspect ratio.
- Remove Gashes: Allows you to repair a tear/disconnection of two sets of edges on a surface.
- Repair CAD: Provides diagnostic checks for assessing the validity of bodies and attempts to repair them.
