The split operation allows you to split a face into multiple sections by choosing edge points that define a splitting line across the face.
This feature helps you to repair a geometry in 3D-CAD. For example, if a geometry has an area of a surface that is corrupted, you can split the surface to isolate that area, delete the invalid patch and then use the fill surface command to regenerate a valid patch.

To split a face by edge points:
-
In the
3D-CAD View scene, select a face that you want to split.
You can split only one face at a time.
-
Right-click on the face and select
.
You can split a face in several sections using edge points.
-
To create the points that define the line by which you split the face:
-
In the
Graphics window, click the location along one edge of your chosen face for the starting point.
Once the point is placed on the face, the edges of the face appear in the default red color.
-
For the end point of the splitting line, click along a different edge on the face.
Once the points are placed, a yellow line appears between the edges. This line is the line that splits the face.
-
In the
Split Faces By Points panel, select the points individually and set their precise relative position along the line. You can also choose the color of the line.
-
If you want to remove the last or all points, right-click the points lists and choose the corresponding action from the menu.
