Splitting Edges by Edge Points

The split operation allows you to split edges using points that you position along them.

This feature is useful for repairing geometry in 3D-CAD.

To split edges by edge point:

  1. In the 3D-CAD View scene, select an edge that you want to split.

  2. Right-click on the edge and select Repair Tools > Split Edges By Edge Points.
A Split Edges By Points panel appears on the left of the Graphics window.
  3. To create the point or points by which you split an edge:
    1. Click a location along the target edge.
A blue color point appears on the edge to show the location of the splitting point. The selected edge appears in the default red color.
    2. If you want to split an edge multiple times, or split multiple edges at the same time, continue to create splitting points on the target edges by clicking at the approximate locations.
    3. In the Split Edges By Points panel, select the points individually and set their precise relative positions along their parent edges.
    4. If you want to remove one or all points, right-click on points in the list and choose the corresponding action.
The image below shows the points on an edge and in the Split Edges By Points panel.

  4. Click OK in the Split Edges By Points panel. See Split Faces/Edges by Points Panel.
The edge is split using the points you selected.
