Part Curve Creator
The part curve creator operation creates and maintains part curves in the parts-based meshing pipeline. Within the operation, you add one or more part curve controls each of which acts on their own selection of part surfaces.
Part Curve Control Properties
The following table summarizes the properties that are available for the part curve control. The part curve control allows you to set options for computing part curves for a subset of parts or part surfaces from the mesh operation's input. You can create multiple part curve controls with different settings.
Mark Sharp Edges | When activated, the control first computes the angle between the normals of faces on either side of each edge. If the computed angle is sharper than the Sharp Edge Angle, the edge is added to the output part curve. The default Sharp Edge Angle is 31 degrees. |
Mark Free Edges | When activated, the operation assigns any free edges to the output part curve. |
Mark Non-manifold Edges | When activated, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ marks each non-manifold edge and assigns them to the output part curve. |
Mark Perimeters | Allows you to mark
edges where the faces on either side belong to different groups of
the chosen entity. For example, if you choose to mark perimeters
based on Boundaries, then the control
compares the boundary assignment for each face on either side of an
edge. If the boundary assignment is different, the edge is added to
the output part curve. The choices available are: None Part Surfaces Boundaries CAD Faces |
Automatically Fix Errors | When activated, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ automatically fixes errors in tessellation that may have caused explicit sharp edges. |
Maintain Existing Curves |
When activated, the operation only considers edges that are not assigned to an existing part curve and does not reassign or delete edges if they are already in another part curve. |
Delete Empty | Deletes part curves that do not have any edges assigned to them. |
