Imprint Properties

Use the Imprint properties to define the input parts, imprint tolerance, and whether to create mesh contacts or not.
Input Parts Specifies the geometry parts that the operation imprints. The operation will not imprint a part on itself.
Tolerance Specifies the upper limit on the distance between part surfaces that the operation imprints. When imprinting edges, the upper limit is between the edges and faces. Any part surfaces or edges that are not within this tolerance are not imprinted.
Merge/Imprint Method Specifies how faces and edges are chosen and matched for imprinting.
Discrete Imprint Surfaces The imprint is carried out using the tessellated surface mesh of the parts. The original tessellated faces are cut to ensure that the imprinted faces match.
Exact Face Match The imprint is carried out using the tessellated surface mesh of the parts. Coincident vertices and faces are merged and a part contact is created between the two parts. Specify this option for part pairs that already have exact one-to-one correspondence between their faces and vertices. See Using the Exact Face Match Method.
CAD Imprint The imprint is carried out using the CAD description of the parts. If the CAD description is not available on all parts, an error message appears informing you of this.
Discrete Imprint Curves The imprint is carried out using the tessellated surface mesh and edges or curves.
Resulting Mesh Type Determines if the imprinter merges the faces or edges of the input parts.
Conformal The imprinter merges faces of the imprinted parts to produce a conformal mesh on the output surface.

For edge imprinting, the imprinter merges edges of imprinted parts to produce a conformal mesh.

Non-Conformal The imprinter does not merge faces of the imprinted parts so a non-conformal mesh is produced on the output surface.

For edge imprinting, the imprinter does not merge edges of the imprinted parts producing a non-conformal mesh.

Imprint Expert Properties

Verbose Output Specifies how much information is provided in the Output window while executing the Imprint operation.
Activated The report in the Output window includes the number of matching source and target surfaces, the number of faces that were merged during the Imprint process, and the number of created contacts.
Deactivated The report in the Output window only displays the number of contacts created during the Imprint operation execution.
