Defining a Cylinder Section
A cylinder section uses a cylinder as the implicit function to cut. Simcenter STAR-CCM+ allows the creation of a cylinder section from parts comprising regions, boundaries, and other parts, provided all input parts are of the same dimensionality.

To create a cylinder section:
- Follow the general procedure outlined in the section, Defining Derived Parts General Workflow. Choose the menu option, .
- Specify the input parts, display option, and coordinate system as described in the section, Defining Derived Parts General Workflow.
-
Complete the cylinder section definition by specifying the following properties:
- Origin — set x, y, and z coordinates for the origin of a rotation axis through the center of the cylinder. You can include units in the entry.
- Orientation — set x, y, and z coordinates for a point that is used to define the central axis of the cylinder. The axis is defined by the vector between the origin of the selected coordinate system and this point. You can include units in the entry.
- Radius — specify the distance in a perpendicular direction from the center axis, defining the outer wall of the cylinder. You can include units in the entry.
- Mode — specify single or multiple sections.
